Official Language

The official language of the Forum is English. There will be no simultaneous interpretation.


Academic Accreditations

Central Pharmacy Unit (CEU), Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points will be sought from relevant professional institutions. Please note that points may not be transferrable to overseas accrediting organisations.


Certificate of Attendance

A certificate of attendance will be issued to registered delegates and available for collection at the registration desk at the Forum.


Exhibition

Pharmaceutical, medical equipment and device companies, and book vendors will be exhibiting products and product information at the Forum. These are available for viewing throughout the day.


Letter of Invitation

The Organising Committee is pleased to provide letters of invitation (without provisions of financial support) to facilitate delegates’ travel and visa arrangements upon request. Please address your request to the Forum Secretariat.


Insurance

The Organiser does not accept responsibility for individual medical, travel or personal insurance. Delegates are strongly advised to make or review their own arrangements.

GENERAL INFORMATION OF MACAU

Time

Macau time is 8 hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +8).


Climate

Language

Chinese and Portuguese are the official languages in Macau. All road signs and most menus and tourist publications are bilingual. Cantonese is the predominant Chinese dialect spoken in Macau while Putonghua (Mandarin) is increasingly used nowadays. English is considered an additional working language.


Currency, Office and Bank Hours

The currency unit of Macau is the Macanese pataca (MOP). It is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of MOP$8 to US$1 with little fluctuation. Most foreign currencies and travellers’ cheques are easily exchanged for cash in MOP at banks, hotels or currency exchange stores. Credit and debit cards (VISA, MasterCard, UnionPay, American Express, JCB, JETCO, Maestro, Cirrus etc.) are widely accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants. Banks open from 0900 to 1700 while offices generally open from 0900 to 1700 on Mondays to Fridays.


Electricity

The standard electrical voltage is 220 volts AC, 50 Hz. Most electrical outlets in Macau take a three-rectangular-pronged plug.


Transportation

Telecommunication

Internet and international direct dialling are easily accessible in Macau. The mobile telephone network systems are also widely used. Most hotels have internet access for laptop computer users, and some may offer desktop work stations and business offices. Wireless broadband service is commonly available at major shopping malls and coffee shops.
