Welcome to the Asia Pacific Advanced Heart Failure Forum

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the first Asia Pacific Advanced Heart Failure Forum (APAHFF) will be held on 15 December 2017 in the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. The Forum is organised by the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine & Therapeutics, and co-organised by Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Department of Surgery and the Nethersole School of Nursing of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The aims of the Forum are to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities in advanced heart failure, identify knowledge gaps, and foster collaborative opportunities and partnerships among researchers to elevate the level of advanced cardiac therapy and care in the Asia Pacific region. The Forum is suitable for physicians, surgeons, nurses, scientists and allied health professionals involved in the care of patients with heart failure and advanced cardiac disease. There will be presentations on heart failure/circulatory support programmes in the Asia Pacific region, current management strategies for cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support including extracorporeal life support (ECLS) and left ventricular assist device (LVAD), right heart failure and therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension, and supportive care in advanced heart failure. There will also be dedicated scientific sessions on palliative care in end-stage heart failure, and management of heart failure in cancer patients. We believe this Forum will inspire innovative ideas, facilitate fruitful exchanges, foster friendships and research collaborations.
