With the rapid increase in the old-old population in Hong Kong, general practitioners
have to face increasingly complex medical problems among their older patients.
Further training in geriatric assessment and management strategies for common
medical conditions in old age will enable general practitioners to play a prominent
role in the maintenance and promotion of health of older people in the community.
This course is intended for general practitioners who would like to develop special interest in elderly health care. The course is primary health care oriented and multidisciplinary. The teaching will be based on lectures, interactive clinical bedside teaching on core themes of geriatric medicine, and supervised case studies and case discussions.
Students should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from a recognized
university, and be registered doctors in Hong Kong. They must also fulfill the
"English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate
School before being considered for admission.
