It is our pleasure to announce that Centre for Nutritional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Food Safety & Technology Research Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will be holding a joint symposium on 6 July 2013 - Can Foods Change Your Health?. We cordially invite you to participate in the above captioned event through sponsorship.
The Centre for Nutritional Studies was formed in April 1997, from members of the Faculty of Science (Biochemistry and Biology) and Faculty of Medicine (Chemical Pathology, Clinical Oncology, Community & Family Medicine, Medicine & Therapeutics, Paediatrics, and Surgery). Our missions are conducting research in nutrition, particularly in areas of concern in this region, covering the role of nutrition in the prevention of diseases, and nutritional aspects of acute and chronic diseases; Besides, we are also aim to promote awareness of the importance nutrition among health care workers and the public, to interact with similar organizations in other countries, particularly the Asian Pacific and to apply the scientific founding to daily life of the public (e.g. weight management and nutritional advice to prevent chronic diseases).
Food Safety and Technology Research Centre was set up by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in August 2011. The Centre aims at establishing a world-class research platform to facilitate research works on food safety issues as well as raising the standard of food in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta Region. Moreover, through providing research, consultancy and training services to food and related industries, the Centre would better safeguard our citizens.
This year, the theme for our Symposium is highlighted with Food & Health, covering Dietary Reference Intakes Development in China and US; Dietary Salt, Health and Policy; Lipids and Human Health; Update on Prebiotics and Glycemic Index Development, Health Impacts and Weight Management. Renowned scientists and experts from overseas and government officials from mainland China and Hong Kong will present the recent scientific evidence of these topics. They will also share their experience in relating this evidence to products development for the food industries and policy formulation for population health. Our target audiences will be doctors, nurses, dietitians, nutritionists, food scientists and other health professionals, who are keen to know the benefits and recent advances of different health and food products available in the market. Apart from the local participants, we expect that there will be participants from mainland China, Macau, and other South East Asian countries. It should be much grateful for us if your company would consider giving supports to this symposium.
